St. Patricks Day and Spring

Well we finally made it out of our busy month of February and March seems to be off to a running start, this month is not as busy for us and the previous but still lots to do as anyone would know if you have three kids.

Landon and I have spent the past week getting the garden ready for spring, lots of raking and pulling of weeds, along with lots of clean up to have everything looking its best. We have a few plants that look like they are getting ready to bloom for spring and the tree in our front yard is starting to get buds on it as well. I have to say that I really enjoyed spending this time with him doing some bonding, he loves to be outside getting dirty and was a great help to me in the process.

This past weekend the kids and I did our yearly ritual of going downtown to walk in the St. Patrick's Day parade. This is something that we do every year to show our support for the kids school, they have always had a float in the parade, as a way to raise awareness of Catholic Schools and the great education they provide. I thought it would be a fun experience this year to take front runner from our house to the city, so that's what we did, the boys loved it and were to my surprise actually very good. We made our way to the start of the parade and waited for it to be our turn, well for those who remember what the weather was like on Saturday, you will understand that this was in no way as fun as it was last year, we got poured on, it rained and rained the entire time we were out there, so needless to say the boys did not enjoy this as much as they had in the past, Abbie was the only one who was able to stay warm and dry the entire time. Once the parade was over we quickly got to a warm place had some lunch and then walked back to catch the train home in a snow storm, despite the weather I think they did have some fun and we will be back to do it all again next year.

I am sure that more fun is on its way for this month, the kids keep talking about the Leprechauns coming to their school, and they seem pretty interested in St. Patrick's Day this year so I am going to try and make it a little fun for them at home as well.
